The Son of Man
by: René Magritte

The Son of Man is one of my favorite paintings because it captures a surreal image of a strange character. While it seems as though we do not know who this person is, the artist intended it to be a self-portrait. The apple in front of his face represents all that we see, and how what is visible covers what is hidden. This leaves the viewer with a sense of curiosity for what is behind the apple, something we will never know.

Alex Starnes (Scream) Blog Test

"The Scream" by Edvard Munch is one my favorite paintings.
I like it because of the blend of colors, the wavy design, and mysterious character.

Shantavia Beale II (2012)
By Kehinde Wiley

I like this painting because it's colorful and the designs make it interesting.

Van Gogh Never Saw Golden Gate

Painter: Aja Trier

Date: 2019

I like this painting mainly because of the vibrant colors Trier used. San Francisco is one of my favorite places so the Golden Gate Bridge is very cool. I also like how the sky is similar to Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Sydney Vakili (Lady with an Ermine)

Leonardo da Vinci, 1489-1491, Lady with an Ermine.

I like the contrast of light and dark, and the use of color in the clothes.

Alex MacWilliams Favorite Painting

This is one of my favorite paintings because it is of Kobe Bryant and today is the anniversary of his death.

"Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Johannes Vermeer (1665)

This is one of the few paintings I know of because I read the book based on this, by Tracy Chevalier last year. I like the minimalistic aspects of this painting as well as the contrast with the background and the mix of cool and warm colors.

Most Beautiful Famous Paintings World One

I like this painting because it has a very cool depth and has a lot of different colors and contrast. I also like the reflection from the water on the street.

Rains Russel by Leonid Afremov

Cassie Bree test post

This is one of my favorite paintings by Winston Porter because I really like the colors and how the tree is easily contrasted by the rest of the picture. This painting is called "Blue Tree."

Starry Night by Van Gogh 1889

My favorite painting is the Starry Night because I love the different colors and brush strokes - I also love the swirls in the sky.

Welcome to Spring 2021 Painting Class!

Welcome to Spring 2021 Painting Class!

First, view this short demo movie I created for you (especially if you have never blogged before):

Then, create a "test" post. For your first post to our class blog, first, go online and find a painting you like. Then, create a post with the following information:

1. Post Title: Your Name (Favorite Painting) *Or, just a painting you like if you don't have a favorite!
Add an image in your post.

2. Include the painter's name, the date the painting was created, and the title of the painting.

3. Tell us why you like the painting.

If you have some time, explore the earlier posts from my fall semester Painting Class for a "sneak peek" of what's to come! We are going to have an amazing semester, and I can't wait to meet all of you and get started.
