In Henry's painting of a Granny Smith apple, he created a primary sense of form by giving the apple a 3D shape. He performed this by making the brush strokes seem as if they go back around the apple, and he depicted different lighting and shading on the apple. The lighting comes from the top left of the painting, and he made a cast shadow on the bottom right. He made the apple take up most of the space on the canvas, as well as the grapes. The background of his painting consists of multi-color lines that provide a solid surface for the apple to sit on. These colors create a perfect description of the apple, the grapes, and the table lying underneath. The texture of the apple makes it seem more realistic. Henry did a good job of making it seem smooth and rounded. The table underneath also seems smooth. In conclusion, Henry did a good job of using different elemental descriptions of art to make his Granny Smith apple painting more realistic and varied.
