Vakili Food Painting - Renshaw Elements of Art Description

 In Sydney's food painting, she used different values of tan and brown to achieve a three dimensional appearance in the waffles. She added a fluffy texture on the whipped cream by placing a large amount of modeling paste in a sweeping motion. Sydney recognized the tendency of the color white to reflect the colors of its surroundings. She accomplished this use of color by adding blue to the whipped cream, which also created a sense of unity with the background. The perspective of the painting is that we are looking down on the dish, which is seen through the various positions of the whipped cream and what direction it is facing. Sydney used a green line on the border of the plate to give the piece a sense of three dimensionality and realism. Also, the shadow located in the front of the plate is purple which adds continuity with the pastel theme.
