Bas relief- portrait of Edward Hopper in particular the jacket and hat. Also, maybe some of the ocean.
The texture, shading, and three dimensional modeled surface of this painting creates a highly tactile and sensory quality. Your attention to subtle tonal shifts and especially nuances in edge information and overlaps are commendable. A high level of focus and technical skill are both evident in this complex and deeply engaging painting, particularly in the spatial layering of the many elements (petals, grass blades, leaves). I can't help but also remark on the use of a classic, near-complementary color palette (reddish/orange and green values). Well done, Katie!
ReplyDeleteThe shading for the leaves is so well done! It looks so realistic and I like how you didn't stick with one tone of green (warm and cooler greens).
ReplyDeleteThis painting looks absolutely amazing!. I love the texture and the shading. It almost doesn't look like it's painted in acrylics. Great job with the brush techniques.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so good! Your blending makes the painting look so realistic.
ReplyDeleteThis is so good Katie! Your painting looks so reaalistic and I love how you blended the flower so well.
ReplyDeleteyou did such a good job at creating dimension and depth with the greens, it looks great
ReplyDeleteI like the attention to detail that ended up creating texture.
