How we evaluate art and what makes a good painting.

A good or successful painting is a painting that uses the elements and principles of art in some way that is represented in the painting. I think that a successful work of art relates to the composition of the piece as well as the technique and themes/message behind the painting. However, any painting that a person puts work into qualifies as a successful painting because there exists many styles to painting and there is not a definite right or wrong to a piece of art.

Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth is one of my favorite super successful paintings because of the composition, message, and use of the elements and principles of art.
