Surrealism was developed in Europe after World War One and was influenced by the Dada movement.
Salvador Dali was one of the most prominent artists in this movement. He used hyperrealistic art but placed odd items in natural locations.
Max Ernst was a German artist and he often used inanimate objects together to make animate ones.
Leonora Carrington was one of the later surrealist artists and her composition was more put together than Dali and Ernst.
Yves Tanguy was a French artist who was known for his nonrealistic forms that look like they could be real or a part of this world.
