In my opinion, what makes a good or successful painting is something that makes the viewer think or feel. Art comes in all forms, whether it's a realistic painting or abstract. I think that a successful painting will make the viewer think about the meaning of the painting or what the painting makes them feel. Additionally, a good painting will have a visually pleasing color scheme.
