Hilma af Klint was born on October 26, 1862, in Solna Municipality, Sweden. An interesting fact about Klint was that she was part of a group of women called "the five." She often performed séances to try and contact the "high-masters" of her religion, Theosophy. Her artwork is very abstract and often resembles the spiritual ideas that she had. Hilma af Klint died at the age of 81 on October 21, 1944. 

Klint was an early pioneer of abstract art as you can see in the images below. Her paintings tried to capture the religious and spiritual concepts that she created in her head.
