Kathe Kollwitz was born on July 8, 1867 and died on April 22, 1964. She lived in Königsberg, Prussia (Now part of Russia) and Mortizburg, Germany.

She is known for her very emotional and dramatic woodcut printmaking style that normally is black and white. She also did some bronze and stone sculpturing when she was older. And, she is associated with the Expressionism period.
