In Mandy Jiang's food painting, she creates texture by incorporating a pop out paper/plastic ribbon as green onions. The shading of the bowl creates the element of space around the ramen to capture the attention of the viewer to the middle of the painting. Also, she uses various contrasting colors to provide a sense of balance between the bright yellows and pinks and the shadowy mushrooms. Lastly, the artist highlighted the vegetables and soup with white paint to create value and showcase the direction where the light is coming from.
