“What makes a “good” or successful painting?
I think a good/successful painting should be meaningful to the artist. It should be something that they're proud of that's important to them. I also think a good painting should be interesting to look at. I like to see an artist break the rules and add different values and unique color schemes. If the artist is satisfied and passionate about their work, then they've made a successful painting.

Yes, I agree. Paintings not always have to be appealing to the viewers but also the artists themselves, breaking the rules sometimes can be really unique.
